Embracing the New School Year: A Tribute to All Who Shape Our Future
Hello Friends,
Welcome back to Just Catrina, where I share my journey, insights, and a little bit of everything in between. Whether you’re here for the laughs, the lessons, or just to see what I’m up to, I’m glad you’re here.
It’s been a while since I last posted—since July, to be exact. I decided to take the summer off to spend time with my family, soaking up every moment of togetherness before the school year began. And now, here we are, stepping into another school year, but this one feels different, more poignant.
As a parent this year, the reality hit me hard: one of my daughters only has one year left after this one before she goes away to college. This year, the first day of school was harder and more emotional than her first day of pre-k or kindergarten. Watching her grow up, knowing that I’m inching closer to that day when she’ll spread her wings and fly, is both beautiful and heart-wrenching.
My life has been designed around these girls; we are a tripod, holding each other up in every way. But now, I’m slowly losing each of my legs until I’m left… a bicycle, and eventually a unicycle, trying to balance and find a new way to stand on my own. It’s a transition I know I have to make, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
Back to School: A Fresh Start for Everyone
As summer days wane and the excitement of a new school year begins to buzz in the air, there’s a unique energy that comes with this fresh start. Whether you’re a teacher, parent, grandparent, or any other caregiver, this time of year brings both challenges and opportunities for growth.
For the Teachers:
To my sister and all the incredible educators out there—you are the heart of our education system, the ones who inspire and nurture the minds of tomorrow. As you step into your classrooms, may you feel empowered to make a difference, knowing that every lesson you teach shapes the future. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and your passion is what lights the way for so many.
For the Parents, Grandparents, and Caregivers:
You are the support system that keeps everything running smoothly. From late-night homework help to early morning drop-offs, your roles are as crucial as they are demanding. This school year, take a moment to acknowledge the incredible job you’re doing. It’s okay to take a deep breath and celebrate the little victories along the way.
For the Students:
A new school year means new adventures, challenges, and opportunities to learn. Whether you’re starting your first day of kindergarten or your last year of high school, embrace this time as a chance to grow and discover more about yourself and the world around you. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help, and it’s more than okay to be proud of your achievements.
For the Janitors, Admins, and All School Staff:
You are the backbone of the school community. Your hard work and dedication often go unnoticed, but without you, the wheels would grind to a halt. This year, know that you are appreciated. Your efforts create a safe, clean, and supportive environment where students and staff alike can thrive.
A Fresh Start for Everyone:
As we all dive into this new school year, let’s approach it with an open heart and a willingness to grow. There will be challenges, yes, but there will also be countless moments of joy, learning, and connection. Here’s to making this year one of the best yet—together.
With heartfelt encouragement and a nod to the journey ahead,
Just Catrina
